“Urban Activator - New Design Port”
This Master’s thesis project shows in detail how to renovate and implement new structures in the existing district of the Porto Vecchio. It proposes an innovative and sustainable plan that focuses on three initial projects including a program aimed at drawing attention to how and for whom building should take place there in future.

URBAN ACTIVATOR STRATEGY
STRATEGY OF THE URBAN ACTIVATOR
The Urban Activator “New Design Port” is a strategy which contains steps to redevelop the area of the Old Port. Three initial pilot projects show possible options for opening the area in future. The specific prototypes describe the possible implementations. The designed plans are based on different parameters, the so- called 10 Poles of Development which were explained in the Concept chapter. The goal is to reinvigorate this forgotten part of the city. The transformation of the inspira- tional old structures into an area for a unique creative community through exceptional archi- tecture together with contemporary art and design creates the unique selling proposition of a high-quality experience. A singular vision for the neighbourhood of Porto Vecchio can be started and realised in the near future. It is important to create a vibrant community where residents and visitors can enjoy social life, urban interactions, creative economies and shared experiences. The design project of this master’s thesis includes 3 pilot projects, as “Urban Activators”, which are intended to provide local impulses for further developments in order to activate the area and make it usable.
